WIND POWER WORKSHOPS
Sundance held a wind power workshop to help
young people learn about renewable energy and how to build a
small wind turbine, enabling us to bring alive the concept of
wind power. The workshop gave a group of young people the
opportunity to understand electricity generation and how this
could be achieved without polluting our environment. It inspired
some of the young people to think how energy is generated, the
implications for the environment and how perhaps they might work
to contribute to a sustainable future. By learning new skills
and participating in building elements of a small wind turbine,
these young people achieved something meaningful, which they
will always remember. Also, as a pilot project, the wind power
workshop has demonstrated that it is a worthwhile course and may
be replicated for other interested groups.
We hope to be able to provide similar
workshops in the future, and would like to thank
Enfys
for it's support in funding this project. We would also
like to thank
Environment Wales and Huw Thomas, the senior Youth
Officer in Llanelli, for their help and co-operation. |
