In the UK we receive vast amounts of solar energy with the average amount of energy received in one year being as much as 60% of that received on the equator. This radiation is similar to the output of 1,000 power stations.
The Sun’s energy can provide heat for water by use of active solar heating systems. It can reduce the
space heating demand of buildings by use of passive solar design and it can provide electricity through use of photovoltaic systems.
-
Using solar
energy to heat water for washing and bathing saves energy and money.
-
Typically, a
solar hot water system will reduce your domestic hot water bill by 60% per
annum.
-
Panels work
throughout the day, even in cloudy conditions, although hot water production is
at its greatest during summer months.
-
Solar
collectors are a most cost-effective way of heating swimming pools and
additionally, the summertime heating requirement coincides with the months of
maximum sunshine.
-
With the
price of oil and gas rising, solar hot water systems will increasingly save
money.
-
A solar hot
water system for an average household will save in the region of half a tonne of
CO2
emissions per year.

There are two main types of solar collectors, flat plate and evacuated tubes, and government grant aid is available for both. The cost of an installed domestic hot water system, depending upon the size and type, can vary from £2,000 to £3,000, with grant assistance. Please
contact us to discuss your requirements.
Less expensive unglazed collectors are also available and are particularly cost effective for outdoor swimming pools where lower water temperatures are required. A kit suitable for a 24' x 12' pool costs £1,700 plus VAT.
Sundance Renewables is able to assist in obtaining grants, assessing your requirements and installing complete systems.

We are happy to carry out a home survey for potential customers in the Carmarthenshire area. In other areas of Wales we can use the network of agents and installers who are members of Cymru
Solar.
We can supply and
install a wide range of solar hot water heating systems, and recommend a range
of products - further details are available on the websites below:
