Biodiesel from locally sourced used vegetable oil
If you are a local business or
organisation that uses vegetable oil then please
contact us for details of our collection
service.
Biodiesel
is a fuel made from vegetable oil, and so derived from plants (bio)
and suitable for use in diesel vehicles – hence the name Biodiesel.
It is a stable fuel, performs reliably in all diesel engines, cuts
emissions, can be mixed with petroleum diesel, is safe to handle, as
biodegradable as sugar and less toxic than salt and will work with
all diesel storage and pumping stations. No engine modifications are
needed to use Biodiesel in most modern vehicles. Most
importantly it is a non-polluting fuel, essentially carbon-neutral
and with emissions orders of magnitude less then fossil diesel.

Sundance
Renewables collect liquid vegetable oil from local chip shops, pubs,
restaurants etc and in co-operation with Carmarthenshire County
Council have set up collection points for householders to dispose of
their used vegetable oil at civic amenity sites in Carmarthenshire.
Used
vegetable oil is processed in our small chemical plant, the first
community based Biodiesel plant in production in the UK. We are
fully compliant with all current regulation governing Biodiesel
production and waste oil transportation (Environment Agency PPC
Permit No. BX71421D; Waste Carrier Reg. No. SWW/551436/CB) and our
fuel is tested to meet European Biodiesel Specification EN
14214. |
Biodiesel
is being manufactured elsewhere in the UK and is available in
forecourts across England, Scotland and N. Ireland. Currently, there
are no other outlets in Wales selling biodiesel – we are the first.
We have
recently won a top national environmental award for our work to
bring Biodiesel to Wales and we launched our production plant in
October 2004 in a televised event with Edwina Hart AM for
Gower, Minister for Social Justice and Regeneration.
We ask you
to please show concern for the environment when disposing of used
vegetable oil.
If you are
a householder in Carmarthenshire – next time you change the oil in
your deep fat fryer, please dispose of it carefully at a local civic
amenity site.
