Setting up

THE OILY WAY
Benefit to the Community
There are many logical
reasons why a community style Biodiesel project could be an essential ingredient
to a vibrant and healthy community.
In 2004 legislation will prohibit used vegetable oil going towards animal
feed, a common practice today for commercially used oil. Where is this oil now
destined to go? A small biodiesel processing plant can easily manage the amounts
of used vegetable oil generated within most communities.
What of household waste? To date householders have had little choice
regarding recycling their oil and one can only assume that much of it has found
its way down the kitchen sink. What do you do with yours?
A well run community style operation can begin collection services at amenity
sites and even organise doorstep collections.
Biodiesel offers an end loop system, taking a valuable waste - a resource -
and transforming it into a quality transport fuel that has less impact on the
environment than fuels used at present and is competitive in price in a
petroleum dependent world.

The final product can be sold to the general
public but we have decided to direct our flow towards Local Authority services
and not-for-profit ventures and charities. Helping our Local Authorities meet
national set targets is important if they are to become the beacon of best
practice to other stakeholders within the community and we should all share
the burden of responsibility in making these efforts, as it is our resources
they manage.
A well managed community biodiesel project benefits many, not least our
environment.
